Inter-Governmental Marital committee Digitalizes Local Government Marriage Registration

Nigeria marriage registration can now heave a sense of relive from series of embarrassment from international institutions like the foreign embassies and other bodies when the issue of marriage authentication and validation is concern, particularly when global best practices is required at any point in time.

The Inter-Governmental Marital Committee facilitated national orientation workshop on e-marriage registration and documentation for local governments in Nigeria, held in August at the premises of Nigeria Raw Material Research and Development Council along the university of Lagos main campus road in Lagos, provided the platform for the manpower skill development training of local government council registrars from Edo State at a segmented training, professionally designed for Local Government Marriage Registrars in Nigeria.

The National Marriage Gazette News crew that covered the events gathered that all the eighteen Local Government Councils/Areas in Edo State were well represented by the councils functionaries and marriage registrars.

Our news crew also reported that the management of the Inter-Governmental Marital Committee empowered the attendee local government councils with modern state of the art technology devices for digital marriage registration, capable of providing the much needed and anticipated e-marriage registration in Nigeria, to curb and cleverly eliminate fraudulent marriage registration in the country in conformity with the present global best practices.

The participants at this National marriage workshop provided them the ample opportunity to engage in e-marriage registration without hitches for its smooth operation in the country. This I.M.C facilitated workshop which was declared opened by no other person than the able and industrious Secretary-General of the Committee; Barr. prince M. A. Roger, who has vigorously and successfully piloted the affairs of the Committee over the years amid several stormy water meant to ground the effective registration of marriages by the local government councils/areas in Nigeria as clearly provided by the Nigeria constitution.

The National orientation workshop was also graced by the Edo state SPMS; Rev. (Mrs) Patricia Igbon and the National president of the Association of Local Government Marriage Registrars in Nigeria (ALGMaR) in the person of Mr. Sokeye Deji along the National P.R.O. in the person of Alh. Mesigah Mutairu who is also the Marriage Registrar of Etsako West.

National Marriage Gazette News crew also reported that eminent and distinguished marriage experts and technocrats presented various resource papers at this I.M.C facilitated workshop on selected topic ranging from the following (1) On-line Marriage Registration as a Catalyst for Revenue Generation (2) E-Marriage Registration at the Local Government Council Registries (3) The Role of Family in Nation Building (4) The Marriage Act

This National orientation workshop also featured a comprehensive and practical interactive session for the development of the local government marriage registrars in attendance. The programme which was professionally designed, was executed for the participants for three (3) days at the National Raw Material Research Development Council in Lagos.
